Turkey Trotting

And I’m on a blogging rampage! Day light savings = bored Lizard.

While I was being lazy and not working out today, I signed up for the Detroit Turkey Trot!

I signed up for the 10K, but it was the same price as the 5K, so I will just run whichever distance I feel like running on Turkey Day. Turkey and booze taste a lot better after a morning run!  It’s been a few years since I’ve run a trot and I’m really looking forward to running one in a new city!  And new state, for that matter!  I’m also thinking about getting one of those turkey hats from the dollar bins at Target.  I am cool.

Also: you may be asking yourself why  I’m signing up for a race in Motown.  The answer is my parents live outside of Detroit, so I will be up in MI for the long weekend!

And here’s to hoping I run more than 1 mile in the next few weeks!

Will any of my few loyal readers be running a trot? If so, which one?

I signed up for the Beverly Turkey Trot through a Schwaggle deal, and with my Active Advantage membership, it was only $12. It’s on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, so I can still go out boozing on Wednesday night if I want. Although if I don’t, there is a 2.5mi Turkey Trot in the area on Thanksgiving morning, and I’m curious about that distance. Like a 5K but not quite, so I could go ever faster. So that might be a last minute thing.

I’m signed up for one in Prospect Park here in Brooklyn! It’s 5 miles, and the park loop is 3.3, so I’m hoping they’re smart enough to design the course to cover the park’s giant hill just once.

This one of your few loyal readers MAY do a trot if she can find a cheep (geddit?) one but they tend to be a little too pricey. Last year we made our own…five of us and a toddler in a stroller, all in fancy dress. Lots of fun!!

I have no clue what my plans are yet so I will just have to hit the gym or lake front on my own.

I am running the Alexandria, VA trot. $20…which is good for a 5 miler. I am trying to get my family to sign up but likely not going to happen.

I wished we had a trot over here, but I live in Germany and Thanksgiving is just not existing. I am currently looking for a fun Christmas race, but somehow, we don’t seem to have a lot of topic related races.

No Turkey Trot for me this year (just had a baby) but normally I do the free Turkey Day run with my running club. We don’t have beer, but we do have doughnuts! :)

I’m doing a 5K Turkey Trot. I’m excited! I’ve done one in my hometown before, and they are always fun.

I’m doing the Columbus Turkey Trot 5 miler again-my sixth time out of the last 7 years!

Is that the one that starts in Upper Arlington? If so, I’ve run that couple of times w my fam! I signed up for the one in Dublin once, but my flight got in so late on Wed night that I couldn’t force myself to get up to run it. Good luck!

Holy crap how did I miss this reply? My bad. yep, that’s the one that starts in UA…I love it! I did the Dublin one (the Flying Feather) in 2011 as a pace group leader and it wasn’t bad but I like the fact that the Trot’s a little longer run.

  10. I ended up running the Detroit Turkey Trot also. This year I decided I would run the 5k backwards. If you want to hear my story you can find it at http://timsrunningreviews.wordpress.com/2012/11/25/not-looking-forward-to-it-2012-detroit-fifth-third-turkey-trot-5k/
